Safeguarding- Controlling Friendships

Controlling relationships whether they be relationships at home or even simply a friendship can be and are confusing. On the surface, they appear normal to you and you feel this person would never want anything bad for you, AND you find yourself saying:

“I don’t know why people just won’t leave us alone”

 “I know what I am doing”

“I will just go with the flow because I don’t want an argument



To raise awareness on safeguarding in relation to controlling friendships, what makes a young person vulnerable to be in controlling friendships and to then make positive choice in toxic relationships.

  • Heard a report on Woman’s hour. As school Governor for Safeguarding, would welcome information on E Safety to assist in my role and share this with Head and Governors. Hopefully, with the aim to use this as a aid to keep children safe.
